After beating the #13 ranked Van Vandals, the Hawks are now back to back District Champions with a perfect district record of 5-0, and a season record of 8-2.
“Before the season even started people were already doubting our ability to be a great team. The people that doubted us gave us a reason to prove everyone wrong and work as hard as possible,” senior Landon West said. “This has been the hardest working team in my opinion because of how much the team has grown throughout this season and how far we have come since what we were to begin with”
While the title of being back to back district champs is great, the Hawks are not looking to just stop there. They want to make a run all the way to State. And it starts with the first playoff game against the Bullard Panthers on Thursday night at 6:30.
“Everybody is just excited to be in the playoffs. A bunch of guys haven’t played real playoff football yet so it’s going to be fun getting to experience playoffs with them.” junior Buck Anderson said.
Last week the Hawks put on a show, beating the Vandals 30-14 on senior night, securing their number one spot in the playoffs. The Hawks had an efficient game with wide receiver, junior Spencer Browning, having two receptions on two targets with a touchdown.
“My catches were a great part of the game for the team. It helped us get momentum after van had just scored 2 touchdowns. I prepare in practice by running as hard as I can on my routes and trying to catch every ball thrown to me.” Spencer said.
