On Tuesday afternoon, the Hawk tennis team beat their cross-town rivals, Texas High, with a score of 15-6, marking their first ever victory over the Tigers.
“We’ve been really good this season about cheering each other on and helping motivate each other,” Cambrie said. “This was something that really helped us against Texas because it gave our players the confidence on the court to do well.”
Along with their newfound confidence, according to junior Lynleigh Henderson, many summer practices and tournaments helped prepare the team for this particularly difficult tournament.
“Honestly it was kind of unbelievable,” Lynleigh said. “We knew we had a good chance going into it, but when we actually won, it was crazy — we’re a part of the team that made history.”
